Complexity Demystified - Integrative Techniques
Having demystified complexity and derived useful insights, the Guide then indicates how they can be applied through a systematic and practical approach. The techniques in the book enable practitioners to put the complexity that underlies real-world contexts 'to work' effectively and appropriately by:
- engaging with communities-of-practice and using a Landscape of Change to continuously shape, contribute to and influence dynamic situations (ie, doing in practice);
- reasoning and reflecting about practice and setting the 'conditions for doing' by examining mismatches, tensions and drivers of change in a Trade-off Space (ie, preparing for practice);
- appreciating and reflecting about the realities of the context using Symptom Sorting to iteratively gather, express and explore the features (ie, capturing and characterising the context for practice).
